The Meeting of Strengths: Bhima and Hanuman – 8
Once during the exile period, the Pandavas were wandering in the forest when they came across a large monkey lying on their path. The monkey was none other than Hanuman, the son of the wind god and a devout follower of Lord Rama.
Bhima, who was known for his immense strength and courage, tried to move the monkey out of his way. But the monkey would not budge. Bhima tried many times, but each time, the monkey grew bigger and stronger, and Bhima was unable to move him.
Realizing that the monkey was not an ordinary one, Bhima asked the monkey to reveal his true identity. Hanuman replied that he was the son of the wind god, and a devoted follower of Lord Rama.
Impressed by Hanuman’s strength and devotion, Bhima asked Hanuman to show him his true form. Hanuman obliged and grew in size, filling the entire sky. Bhima was amazed at the sight and bowed down before Hanuman, recognizing him as a great warrior and a devotee of Lord Rama.
Hanuman then blessed Bhima with even greater strength, which helped him in his future battles. Bhima and Hanuman then embraced each other as brothers, and Hanuman became a close friend and ally of the Pandavas.
This story teaches us the importance of humility and respect for strength and devotion. Bhima, who was known for his strength, recognized the greater strength of Hanuman and paid his respects. Hanuman, in turn, recognized Bhima’s courage and loyalty, and blessed him with greater strength.
